Try NowNEW DELHI: The JEE Advanced 2023 was conducted today, June 4. The exam was held in computer-based mode and included two papers. Paper 1 was from 9 am to 12 noon and paper 2 was from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm. Students found paper 2 to be moderate to difficult and not easy. JEE Advanced 2023 Live Updates
The duration to complete JEE Advanced Paper 2 was 3 hours. The total marks in Paper 2 was 180. The paper was divided into three sections – physics, chemistry and maths. The maximum mark in each section was 60. The three sections were further divided into four sub-sections. The maximum marks in Section 1, 2 and 4 was 12 marks each, while in Section 3 maximum marks was 24.

JEE Advanced Paper 2 Analysis
As per Ramesh Batlish, managing partner of FIITJEE Noida, the analysis of JEE Advanced 2023 Paper 2 is as follows:
Physics

Physics questions were moderate.

More questions were from wave and sound, wave optics, fluids, em waves, thermodynamics, modern physics, current electricity, kinematics, gravitation, electrostatics.

Physics questions were not balanced. Some questions required lengthy calculations.

Overall feedback: Moderate
Chemistry

Chemistry was tricky.

The chemistry paper had more questions from organic and physical chemistry as compared to inorganic chemistry.

The organic chemistry questions were based on aryl and alkyl halides, amines, polymers, biomolecules, oxygen-containing compounds.

Questions from inorganic unit were directly from NCERT.

The questions from physical chemistry were from topics – chemical kinetics, ionic and chemical equilibrium, electrochemistry, thermodynamics.

Mixed questions were also asked.

Mathematics

Maths questions were unbalanced and tricky.

Questions covered topics – functions, differential equations, inverse trigonometric functions, differentiability, vectors, 3d geometry, application of derivatives, complex numbers, matrices, circle permutation and combination and probability.

JEE Advanced Paper 2: Exam Pattern and Marking Scheme
Section 1 had four questions. Each question had four options, out of which only one option was correct. For each correct answer, the candidate will be awarded 3 marks while one mark will be deducted for each wrong answer.
The second section had four questions and each question had one or more than one correct response. If candidates provide all the correct options, they will be rewarded with 4 marks. The candidate will be awarded 3 marks if the correct answer includes all 4 options but the candidate only chose 3 options. The candidate will be awarded 2 marks if the correct answer had 3 or more options but the candidate chose 2 correct options and 1 mark will be awarded if correct the answer had 2 or more correct options but candidate only chose 1 correct option. No mark will be given for choosing no options and 2 marks will be deducted for other responses.
The third and fourth sections included six and four questions each. These were numerical-based questions and had no negative markings.
