NEW DELHI: Indian Institute of Technology Madras has concluded the Joint Entrance Examination Advanced (JEE Advanced 2024). As per the JEE Advanced paper 2 exam paper analysis 2024, students found the question paper ‘tougher’ than paper 1 and rated the mathematics section as ‘challenging’. The JEE Adv 2024 paper 2 was held from 2.30 pm to 5.30 pm at various exam centres across the country. The shift 2 question paper had 51 questions with 17 questions in each subject. The maximum marks for section 1, 2, and 4 was 12 and section 3 was 24.
As per the marking scheme, section 1 had multiple-choice questions (MCQs) and for each correct answer three marks will be awarded and one mark will be deducted for every incorrect answer, and no mark will be awarded if not attempted.
Section 2 had multiple-select questions in which one or more than one option were correct. If all correction options are chosen full marks will be awarded, and in all other cases, partial marks will be awarded.

JEE Advanced paper 2 chemistry
As per students’ reaction, chemistry was tricky. Equal weightage was given to organic, inorganic and physical chemistry. “Inorganic chemistry had few questions of p-block, chemical bonding, coordination compounds which were directly from NCERT. In physical chemistry, questions covered electrochemistry, ionic and chemical equilibrium, electrochemistry and surface chemistry,” the FIITJEE analysis read.
In organic chemistry, questions were mostly asked from aldehyde and ketones, polymers, biomolecules. Qualitative analysis was asked in comprehension-based type questions.
JEE Advanced paper 2 physics
Physics section had questions from chapters of waves and sound, ray and wave optics, fluids, EM waves, thermodynamics, modern physics, kinematics, gravitation and electrostatics. Students found the section moderately difficult, tricky and lengthy.
JEE Advanced paper 2 maths
Mathematics was the “toughest”, as per students. There were questions from functions, limits, application of derivatives, definite integrals, area under curve, inverse trigonometric functions, vectors, 3d geometry, circle, parabola, quadratic equations, permutation & combination and probability.
