NEW DELHI: Most of the candidates who qualified for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced 2024 are from Uttar Pradesh, showed data, as per media reports. The National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct the IIT entrance test on May 26. Top 2.5 lakh candidates who qualified the JEE Main 2024 exam will be appearing for JEE Advanced.

A total of 28,373 students appearing for JEE Advanced 2024 reportedly represent UP followed by 24,596 from Maharashtra, and 24,121 from Telangana. These three states along with Andhra Pradesh and Rajasthan recorded over 20,000 eligible candidates this year. Only 4.5 candidates are from Madhya Pradesh, the data shared in the reports revealed.
The data also showed that while 75% of the candidates who registered for the entrance exam opted for appearing in both the sessions of JEE Main 2024, only 28% of them could improve their scores in the second session.
The state-wise number of candidates who qualified for JEE Advanced based on JEE Main 2024 ranks is as follows:

9.24 lakh common candidates registered and 8.22 lakh appeared for JEE Main 2024 exam in both sessions, whose results were declared in April. Notably, the highest number of JEE Main 2024 toppers were from Maharashtra, Telangana, and Uttar Pradesh.
JEE Advanced 2024 will be conducted for admission to the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and other engineering institutes offering BTech programmes based on its scores.
