NEW DELHI: The highest Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main rank at which a National Institute of Technology (NIT) closed admission to unreserved seats for BTech in Information Technology in the year 2020 was 2,838 at NIT Karnataka Surathkal, for candidates from outside Karnataka.

Students who aspire to take admission to BTech in Information Technology in the NITs will be given admission based on their JEE Main 2021 rank. They will have to register for the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) counselling 2021.

The JoSAA counselling 2021 registration will start after the JEE Advanced 2021 examination, which is scheduled to be held on October 3 for admission to various programmes at Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).
Last year, six rounds of JoSAA counselling were held and the home and outside closing ranks of the unreserved category for BTech Information Technology admission at NITs are given in the table below.

The factors taken into consideration for determining the NITs cut-off for BTech Information Technology are - total number of candidates who have applied for the course, the difficulty level of JEE Main 2021, the total number of seats available in the institute, previous year NITs cut-off trends for IT.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) held the JEE Main 2021 exam in four phases this year. The JEE Main results 2021 were declared on September 15. A total of 44 candidates have scored 100 percentile in JEE Main 2021 while 18 candidates have shared the top rank. Two students from Delhi are in the top rankers, while seven candidates belong to the list of students who secured 100 percentile in JEE Main 2021 this year.
