JEE Main 2022: What we know so far, eligibility criteria, syllabus

NEW DELHI: The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main 2022) schedule is yet to be announced by the National Testing Agency (NTA), the body which conducts the exam. However, candidates should look out for updates regarding the JEE Mains exam on the official website of NTA, jeemain.nta.nic.in.

Since last year, the computer-based test for admission to BTech, BE engineering programmes has been conducted four times a year, starting from February. However, due to state elections and Covid, this year's schedule stands disrupted.
The JEE Main is the gateway for admission to the National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), other government-funded institutions and many state colleges. It is also the preliminary round for admission to the premier Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) for which there's another exam, the JEE Advanced.
Unlike previous years, the JEE Main 2022 application form is getting delayed. Given below are the basic details about the exam.
JEE Main 2022 eligibility criteria
A new bulletin precedes the JEE Main registration process every year. However, the NTA typically requires candidates to satisfy the following criteria:
Candidates should have passed Class 12 or equivalent exams.
Candidates who intend to enrol for BTech, BE programmes must have learned physics, mathematics, and chemistry or biology, biotechnology, or technical vocational subject in Class 12.
Those who want to get admission in BArch programmes, should have mathematics, physics, and chemistry as mandatory subjects.
JEE Main 2022 syllabus
The NTA will release the JEE Mains 2022 syllabus with the notification, which can be expected soon. The syllabus includes mathematics, physics and chemistry (organic and inorganic) at Class 11 and 12 levels.
About 25 questions are asked from each subject, making the total number of questions 75. Studying according to the syllabus will help students fetch better scores at JEE Mains 2022. Students can check previous year question papers and attend mock tests to familiarise themselves with the exam pattern.
