In late December 2022, the apex child right body, National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) wrote to the National Testing Agency (NTA) to meet the demands of the students. The commission said that the notice period of one month is not enough time for the students to study for their JEE Main, calling it 'unjust and unfair'. JEE Main 2023 candidates are demanding postponement of exam to April as there is less time to prepare and students were informed late.

A letter by Member of Parliament (MP) Karti P Chidambaram demanded a one-time exemptio n for JEE Main candidates that were hit by the technical glitches in 2022 exam, therefore, will be ineligible to appear in the 2023 exam due to the criterion. Education minister, Dharmendra Pradhan responded to the letter and said that the matter has been sent to the concerned authorities and will be looked into.

Previously, the NTA removed the JEE Main 75% criteria last year as an one-time measure due to academic loss during the COVID-19 pandemic. The JEE Main 2023 first session is scheduled from January 24 to 31, 2023 while the second session is scheduled to be conducted on April 6, 8, 10-12, 2023. The last date for JEE Mains 2023 registration is January 12.
