NEW DELHI: The National Institute of Technology Rourkela (NIT Rourkela) director Umamaheshwar Rao has been entrusted with the responsibility of Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) for the academic year 2023. CSAB 2023 is conducted to allot seats for registered candidates based on the Joint Entrance Examination-Main (JEE Main 2023) score in the participating institutes.

“The responsibility of CSAB for the academic year 2023 - 2024 has been entrusted to the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Rourkela (Odisha). In order to facilitate allocation of seats to students in respect of NITs, IIITs, IIEST-Shibpur and other CFTIs, the Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) 2023 is hereby constituted with K Umamaheshwar Rao, Director, NIT-Rourkela (Odisha) as the Chairperson of the CSAB - 2023,” the official order by the ministry of education read.
The directors of all the remaining 30 NITs, 5 IIITs, IIEST-Shibpur and other CFTIs are the members of the CSAB 2023, it said.

NIT Rourkela will be responsible for fixing the supernumerary seats for girls so as to ensure that the percentage of girls’ students in all Institutions should be not less than 20% in 2023.
“To meet the expenses of CSAB - 2023, NTA will transfer 10% of application fee collected for conduct of JEE (Main) - 2023 to CSAB-2023 (NIT, Rourkela) in a single installment before the seat allocation process starts,” the ministry said.
Admissions to undergraduate engineering programmes in the National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology (IIEST), Shibpur, Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs) and several participating state government colleges are done based on the performance of students in JEE Mains since 2013.
The common counselling process for CFTIs are conducted by Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA).
