NEW DELHI: The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2025 exam date will be announced soon on the official website, jeemain.nta.nic.in. The National Testing Agency (NTA) will release the NTA exam calendar 2025 containing the exam date at nta.ac.in. JEE Main 2025 registration is expected to begin in November.

NTA will likely release the JEE Main 2025 information bulletin containing details such as registration date, eligibility, exam pattern, marking scheme, syllabus, admit card date, answer key, result this month.
In the latest update, NTA has discontinued the optional questions in section B of all subjects in JEE Main 2025 papers including paper 1 for BE, BTech and paper 2 for BArch and BPlanning. The exam will be held in two sessions – session 1 and session 2. The first session will be administered in January last week as per a Goa board notification on board exams 2025. Last year, the BTech entrance exam was conducted for a duration of three hours and was administered in two shifts -- shift 1 from 9 am to 12 noon and shift 2 from 3 pm to 6 pm.
JEE Main exam will be held for admission to engineering and architecture programmes offered by the National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Informational Technology (IIITs) and other government and private institutions. Those who qualify JEE Mains 2025 will be eligible to appear for JEE Advanced which is a prerequisite for BTech admissions at the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).

Delhi government has announced the extension of free coaching scheme for engineering, medical, and other aspirants to general category students. As per the eligibility criteria for Jai Bheem Mukhyamantri Pratibha Vikas Yojna, the following general category students will be eligible for free JEE Main 2025 coaching:
- Students of secondary and senior secondary classes passed from Delhi
- Those whose family income does not exceed Rs 8 lakh

Is 75% criteria removed from JEE Main?
No, the eligibility criteria of 75% marks in Class 12 exam has not been removed from JEE Main. Candidates were required to secure at least 75% marks in 12th or be in top 20 percentile to be eligible for admission to NITs, IIITs, and other participating institutions last year. A total of 9,24,636 common candidates registered for JEE Main paper 1 (BE, BTech) last year, of which, 8,22,899 appeared for the engineering entrance exam. JEE Main session 1 saw over 12 lakh applicants while 11.79 lakh candidates submitted applications for session 2 in the previous year.

NTA JEE Mains session 1 in January last week
The Joint Entrance Examination - Main (JEE Main) 2025 session 1 will be conducted in the last week of January, according to Goa board which rescheduled state board exams 2025 to avoid clash with the engineering entrance exam. The exam will likely be held in two sessions -- session 1 and session 2. The JEE Main 2025 registration for first session is expected to commence in November.

As per the JEE Main marking scheme, candidates will be awarded four marks for each correct answer. There will be a negative marking and one mark will be deducted for every incorrect response. No marks will be given for questions left unanswered.
