JEE Main 2025 Live: NTA to announce exam dates soon at jeemain.nta.nic.in; new pattern, information bulletin

It is expected that JEE Main exam syllabus will remain the same. The syllabus for JEE Main 2025 includes important topics of Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics of NCERT Class 11 and 12.

The application fee can be paid online on JEE Mains official website. The payment fee will be accepted through credit card, debit card, net banking, and UPI. Candidates will be required to take a printout of the NTA JEE Mains 2025 for future reference.

The JEE Main 2025 registration date is expected to be in November 2024. The process will be conducted in online mode only. The application process for JEE Main will include registration, form filling, uploading of documents, and payment of fees

The JEE Main 2025 exam date will be announced tentatively in October 2024. The session 1  exam is expected to be held in the last week of January 2025, while session 2 will likely take place in the first week of April 2025.

As per the JEE Main new exam pattern, the authority has discontinued the optional question format in section B of the JEE Main exam. Section B in JEE Main 2025 papers 1 and 2 will now comprise of 5 mandatory questions.

According to the latest NTA notification, the official website for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2025 is jeemain.nta.nic.in.

The JEE Main marking scheme is as follows:

• Four marks for each correct answer.

• No negative marking

• One mark will be deducted for every incorrect response.

• No marks will be given for questions left unanswered.

JEE main exam is held in the following modes:

• Paper 1 (BE,  BTech) in computer-based test (CBT) mode only.

• Paper 2A (BArch): Mathematics (Part-I) and Aptitude Test (Part-II) in computer Based test (CBT) mode only and Drawing Test (Part-III) in pen and paper (offline) mode, to be attempted on a drawing sheet of A4 size.

• Paper 2B (BPlanning): Mathematics (Part-I), Aptitude Test (Part-II), and Planning-Based

• Questions (Part-III) in computer-based test (CBT) mode only.

The steps to register for JEE Main 2025 are as follows.

• Visit the official website at jeemain.nta.nic.in

• Click on the “new registration link” available.

• Choose a mode of login and identification for submission of the application form

• Enter the name, mobile number, and E-mail address details

• After completing the registration, log in using any of the following 3 options - JEE Mains Digi locker login, ABC ID, and application number.

• Enter the details in the JEE Main 2025 registration form along with personal and educational details, scanned copies of photographs, and signatures.

• Payment of JEE Main application fees.

• Download the confirmation page for future reference.

Till now, NTA has not mandated any criteria for the age of candidates appearing for the JEE Main. Students of any age can appear in the exam, but only for three consecutive years from passing their class 12.

Candidates can apply for JEE (Main) 2024 session 1 and session 2 through the “Online” mode only. The application form in any other mode will not be accepted.

To register for JEE Main 2025, candidates must upload the following documents in the specified format:

• The recent photograph should be in either colour or black and white, with 80% of the face (without a mask) visible, including the ears, against a white background.
• Both the scanned photograph and signature must be in JPG or JPEG format and clearly legible.
• The size of the scanned photograph should range from 10 KB to 200 KB.
• The size of the scanned signature should range from 4 KB to 30 KB.
• The scanned copy of the Persons with Disabilities (PwD) certificate should be in PDF format, between 50 KB and 300 KB, and clearly legible.

The JEE Main exam is conducted every year in 13 languages; English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.

JEE Main acts as the entrance examination for National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), and other participating technical education institutions. The exam will be held in two phases.

The marking scheme for JEE Main Paper 1 is as follows: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) award +4 marks for each correct answer, while -1 mark is deducted for each incorrect answer. According to the JEE Main marking scheme for previous years, candidates will receive four marks for each correct answer, while one mark will be deducted for each incorrect response due to negative marking. Unattempted or unanswered questions will receive zero marks.

As per the latest updates, the JEE (Advanced) 2024 team has established "Citizen Service Centres" across the country to assist candidates, especially those from rural areas, in filling out their choices and paying fees through the online portal.

During the admission process, all eligible candidates are required to pay a seat acceptance fee to demonstrate their commitment to securing a seat. Students from the Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Persons with Disabilities (PwD) categories pay only 50% of the acceptance fee compared to regular candidates.

The NTA has announced a significant change to the JEE Main 2025 exam pattern. Under the new format, optional questions have been removed from Section B of all sections, making all questions mandatory for candidates. As per the latest updates, the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) are offering fee concessions and relaxed cut-off scores for students from reserved categories to promote inclusive and equitable education.

"In the JEE-based admissions, fee remissions and fee waivers are provided right from the application stage. At the application stage, students belonging to the SC, ST, PwD (persons with disability) need to pay only half the examination fee. Further, cut-offs are relaxed to support a greater number of admissions in the SC, ST, PwD and OBC categories," said IIT Madras Director V Kamakoti.

A total of 9,24,636 common candidates registered for Paper 1 of the JEE Main 2024 examination. In Session 1, 12,21,624 candidates applied, while 11,79,569 submitted application forms for Session 2. The total number of unique candidates across both sessions was 14.76 lakh.

For JEE Main 2025, candidates must achieve a minimum of 75% marks in their Class 12 or equivalent examination. For JEE Advanced 2025, candidates should be among the top 20 percentile. The National Testing Agency (NTA) may announce any changes to the eligibility criteria in the information bulletin for JEE Main 2025.
