NEW DELHI: The Joint Entrance Examination - Main (JEE Main 2025) registration process will begin in “due courses of time”, the National Testing Agency (NTA) said in its latest notification, adding that it has decided to discontinue the option in section B. JEE Main 2025 session 1 exams are going to be held in the last week of January for paper 1 BE, BTech and paper 2 BArch and BPlanning.

The JEE Mains exam date 2025 is expected to be announced soon by the testing agency along with the NTA exam calendar. The exam calendar will have exam date details of all national-level entrance exams conducted by the NTA, including NEET UG 2024, UGC NET 2024 etc.
During the onset of the COVID 19 pandemics, JEE Main question paper pattern was revised to include the optional section allowing candidates to attempt five out of the 10 questions. It was introduced as a one-time measure considering the pandemic situation.
“Since the declaration of UN World Health Organization (WHO) on the COVID-19 as an end of Public health emergency on 05 May 2023, it has been decided to discontinue the optional selection of questions,” the NTA said. As per the previous JEE Main exam pattern, section B will contain only 5 questions and candidates will have to attend all five questions without any options in paper 1 and 2.

After the JEE Main registration link 2024 is out, candidates will be able to create an account using Digi locker account through the NAD portal, Academic Bank of Credits ID (ABC ID) through the ABC ID, Indian passport number, non-Indian passport number, PAN card number, or Aadhaar.

The registration for JEE Main 2025 is likely to begin in November 2024 and will be conducted entirely online. The application process will involve steps such as registration, completing the form, uploading necessary documents, and paying the required fees.
Candidates who have qualified Class 12 board exams in the year 2023, 2024 or appearing in 2025 are eligible to apply for JEE Mains 2025. However, the candidate may be required to meet the JEE eligibility criteria of the institute to which they are taking admission.
Candidates can attempt JEE Main for three consecutive years, with two attempts per year.
The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main exam is held for admission to BTech, BArch and BPlan courses at NITs, IIITs, other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs), Institutions,
JEE Main scores are valid for one year. This means candidates can use their JEE Main 2025 scores for admission at participating institutions in the academic year 2025-26.
The total marks for JEE Main 2025 paper 1 is 300 marks. The JEE Main 2025 total marks for paper 2 is 400 marks.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct the JEE Main 2025 exam for both sessions.
Candidates can attempt JEE Main for three consecutive years, with two attempts per year.

MCQs: Four marks will be awarded for each correct answer. A negative marking of one mark for each wrong answer will be followed.
Questions with numerical value answers: Four marks for each correct answer and there will be a negative marking of one mark for each wrong answer.
As per the new pattern, there will be no optional questions in section B of the JEE Mains 2025 exam.
