JEE Main 2025: Mastering core concepts, mock test will help you score better, say toppers, CSAB chief

NEW DELHI: The National Testing Agency (NTA) will commence the Joint Entrance Examination Main (JEE Main 2025) in 10 days for students aspiring to pursue engineering courses at top institutes such as IITs, NITs, IIITs. Here are some last minute preparation tips from JEE Main toppers and officials.

“JEE Main is not difficult, if prepared with the right approach as follows: With focused preparation, including mastering core concepts, regular practice, effective time management, and a positive mindset, students can confidently excel in the exam,” the Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) said while inviting application from north-eastern students.

Motivating aspirants, K Umamaheshwar Rao, CSAB chairperson, said: “I understand that preparing for an exam of this scale may cause some stress, but with focused preparation, mastering core concepts, regular practice, effective time management, a positive mindset, and seeking guidance from teachers students can confidently excel in JEE Main.”

Rao said cracking the exam can be a “life-changing achievement, empowering their future in science and technology”. Upon achieving a good rank in JEE Mains, the CSAB board will provide guidance and support throughout each counselling round for north-eastern students to secure admission in their preferred NIT+ system institution.

JEE Main mock test

JEE toppers have recommended taking JEE Main mock tests to familiarize with the computer-based test and marking scheme. A simulation of the real exam will help students boost their confidence. Rongala Arun Siddardha, who secured 100 percentile in JEE Main 2020 (January session) talked about the importance of mock test and sample papers - "I used to daily practice one previous paper. This helped me get the idea of the difficulty level of JEE mains paper, such as question framing and the role of calculation in the paper"

Pawan Goyal the JEE Main 2018-AIR-6, said that it is very important for candidates to take mock tests, as it will give them a true taste of what the actual exam would be like. He also urged candidates to solve JEE Main question papers of the last ten years.

Free coaching materials

The ministry of education, state governments, and a few higher educational institutes offer free coaching classes for students preparing for national-level entrance exams, including JEE Main 2025 and NEET UG 2025.

The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT Kanpur) has launched a Self Assessment Test and Help for Entrance Exams (SATHEE) scheme to help students prepare for JEE Main and other competitive exams free of cost. Jamia Millia Islamia's (JMI) Residential Coaching Academy also provides free UPSC coaching classes.
