Compared to the January 2025 session, students found the JEE Main 2025 April 4 shift 1 paper to be slightly more balanced in terms of subject-wise distribution and difficulty level. As per Careers360’s subject experts, in JEE Mains 2025 April 4 shift 1 exam, the mathematics section was lengthy and challenging. Physics and chemistry were relatively manageable. The Chemistry section included a notable number of questions based on Physics concepts.

The JEE Main 2025 April 4 shift 1 exam was conducted from 9 am to 12 pm. As per the JEE Mains 2025 marking scheme, candidates will be given four marks for each correct answer, and one mark will be deducted for incorrect MCQ answers.

JEE Mains 2025 Question Paper: April 4 shift 1 exam analysis

The JEE Main subject-wise paper analysis for the April 4 exam, along with high-weightage topics asked is available below.

  • Physics: According to Careers360 experts, the Physics section in the April 4 morning shift was relatively easy compared to Mathematics but slightly tougher than Chemistry. When compared to the Physics papers of both shifts on April 2 and April 3, the April 4 morning shift paper was easier.
  • Chemistry: The Chemistry section in the April 4 shift 1 paper was easy to moderate in comparison to Mathematics and Physics. Students found Chemistry easier than the papers held on April 2 and April 3. The numerical-based questions were higher in number this time, requiring more calculation. In section 2, Physical Chemistry had greater weightage compared to Inorganic and Organic Chemistry.
  • Mathematics: The overall difficulty level of the mathematics section in the April 4 shift 1 paper was high. It was relatively more difficult compared to the chemistry and physics sections. Students found the mathematics questions lengthy and time-consuming. Compared to the April 2 and April 3 shifts, the April 4 shift 1 Mathematics paper was tougher.

JEE Main 2025 April 4 Shift 1 Paper Analysis: Memory-based questions

The topics asked in the JEE Main 2025 April 4 shift 1 exam, based on memory-based questions, are listed below.

Physics: The Physics section in the April 4 shift 1 paper included a balanced mix of topics. Two questions were asked from Modern Physics (Stopping Potential) and another two from Mirror Formula. Other topics included one question each from Semiconductors, Capacitors, Electrostatics, Mean Free Path, and the magnetic effect of current based on EMF.

Maths: In the mathematics section, one question each from Matrices, Integration, Probability, and Sequence and Series. Two questions were asked from the Conic Section and two from Vector 3D.

Chemistry: In the chemistry section, two questions from biomolecules and two from Coordination Chemistry. One question each was asked from General Organic Chemistry (GOC), Thermodynamics, Ionic Equilibrium, Amines, Hydrocarbons, and Chemical Kinetics, covering both organic and physical chemistry concepts. electrochemistry based on the cell equation, and biomolecules based on the structure of complex carbohydrates.
