The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) conducts counselling for admission to 23 IITs, 31 NITs, IIEST Shibpur, 26 IIITs, and 47 Other-Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs). JoSAA will publish the opening and closing ranks for BTech admission for each round separately, once the counselling begins.
National Institute of Technology (NITs) will accept admission to its BTech courses through JoSAA counselling based on Joint Entrance Exams (JEE Mains 2026) AIR ranks and merit. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued the JEE Mains 2026 session 2 provisional answer key , and the objection window will close on April 13.

Notably, only 22 NITs offer admission to BTech electrical engineering programme. The closing rank for the last academic session’s NIT Rourkela EE programme was 10623, the highest among all NITs.

NTA will announce the JEE Mains 2026 April session results by April 20, along with final answer keys. Only the top 2.5 JEE qualifiers will be eligible for the JEE Advanced 2026 exam , which is scheduled on May 17 for admission to IITs.
