#JEEAfterBoards: JEE Main 2023 candidates demand session 1 after board exams

NEW DELHI: Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2023 aspirants are demanding the first session of the exam after board exams 2023. Candidates took to Twitter with hashtag #JEEAfterBoards seeking postponement of the exam to April citing that there is less time to prepare for the test.

As soon as the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announced board exam dates 2023, candidates started demanding postponement of the engineering entrance exam as the dates fell between Class 12 board exams 2023 and practical exams. CBSE 12th board exams are scheduled to be held from February 15, 2023 while practical exams are being conducted from today.

A petition has also been filed in the Bombay High Court seeking postponement of the January session as Class 12 pre-board exams of several boards are scheduled next month. The plea also challenged the 75% criterion to be eligible for JEE Main 2023.

JEE Main 2023 is slated to be held in two sessions – January and April. The first session will be held on January 24, 25, 27, 28, 29, 30, and 31. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has begun JEE Main 2023 registration on the official website – jeemain.nta.nic.in. Last date to apply is January 12. The second session of JEE Main is scheduled to be conducted on April 6, 8, 10-12, 2023.

An aspirant urged NTA, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Twitter to postpone the exam explaining several reasons.

A candidate tweeted, “if you had planned to take the exam in Jan, why did you not inform us back in Sept, why so late? And if this was a impromptu and unplanned decision, that too without considering the student's situation and just for the sake of normalisation, you are ruining our lives.”

Another candidate commented on Pradhan’s tweet and said, “Please don't put more pressure on us. Boards, Pre boards, Practicals, school Projects are already there. Please postpone JEE 1st to April.”
