Former Jharkhand CM questions credibility of JPSC; JMM claims move seeks to divert attention from NEET issues

JAMSHEDPUR: Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren on Monday questioned the credibility of the state Public Service Commission (JPSC) after several alleged irregularities have come to light. Soren, also a BJP leader, claimed that the alleged irregularities of the JPSC include not declaring cut-off marks, result sheets not bearing the signature of the requisite members, and OMR sheets going viral on social media.

Meanwhile, the ruling JMM claimed the opposition party was shedding crocodile tears to divert the attention of the public from national issues such as the NEET paper leak.

The manner in which the JPSC mains examination was being conducted in haste raised several questions, Soren said in an X post, while accusing state government of playing with the future of the youths.

He advocated for a CBI investigation to resolve the controversy in an acceptable manner for all. However, it is unfortunate the way the government is trying to suppress the voice of the youths, he alleged. Soren said Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) have decided to gherao the JPSC office on July 22.

Blind, deaf govt should realise power of youth: Former Jharkhand CM

He appealed to the masses to gather in lakhs and make this "blind and deaf government" realise the power of the youth. Responding to the charge, JMM spokesman Kunal Sarangi said the BJP was shedding crocodile tears on the JPSC issue. He accused the opposition party of attempting to divert the attention of the masses from national issues like the NEET paper leak.

"I do not understand what made the union government turn a deaf ear to its incompetent Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the serious NEET paper leak issue, even though the entire nation is demanding his resignation," Sarangi, a former MLA, said.

A large number of youths got employment through JSSC and JPSC during Chief Minister Hemant Soren's tenure in the state, he claimed. "Not only students, but even the youths have realised that if one government can actually ensure their employment, it is the Hemant Soren government," the JMM leader asserted.

"If they have any question, they can very well get it investigated as the state government was absolutely alright with any investigation if any irregularities have taken place in JPSC," Sarangi added.
