JoSAA Mock Seat Allotment 2026 Out: Next steps, choice filling deadline and round 2 details

The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) has released the mock seat allotment round 1 result today, June 8, at 2 pm. Only those candidates who completed registration and saved their choices by June 7, 8 pm can check their tentative allotment through the official JoSAA portal. One must know that the mock seat allotment is a trial allocation exercise conducted before the commencement of the actual counselling rounds. Based on the choices submitted by candidates, their ranks in JEE, category, and seat availability is considered for generating a tentative allotment. It provides candidates with an opportunity to evaluate their chances of admission and make informed changes to their choice list.

Candidates who receive an allotment can evaluate whether they are satisfied with the likely outcome or would prefer to rearrange their choices to target a different institute or branch.

Candidates can still change choices

One of the most important aspects of the mock allotment process is that it does not lock candidates into any decision. After reviewing the Round 1 result, candidates are free to modify their choices. They can change the order of preferences, add new institutes or branches, delete choices they no longer wish to consider and prioritise options based on expected cutoffs and career goals.

Round 2 mock seat allotment on June 10

Candidates who save or modify their choices by June 9, 5 pm, will be considered for mock seat allotment round 2, scheduled for June 10. After both mock allotment rounds, JoSAA will process candidates' final submitted choices and prepare the actual seat allocation list. JoSAA choice-filling process remains open until June 11, and round 1 seat allotment result is scheduled to be released on June 13, 2026.
