Hijab Row News: Bahutva Karnataka candlelight vigil was organised in light of the ongoing communal violence in Karnataka
NEW DELHI: A candlelight vigil scheduled to be conducted today, February 12, 2022, at Maurya Circle in Bengaluru, Karnataka by Bahutva Karnataka, a civil rights organisation got cancelled as the Bengaluru Police withdrew the permission.

was supposed to be held in the evening from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm in light of the ongoing hijab issue in Karnataka. The police had previously given permission to conduct the vigil, but the permission was withdrawn later.

Bahutva Karnataka has recently criticised Hindutva organisations with alleged links to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) for the ongoing hijab controversy in Karnataka. In a statement released by the organisation, it demanded the protection of fundamental rights of people, especially the minority communities. The civil rights organisation also urged the government to withdraw the order banning hijab and asked for protecting the right to education of Muslim students, especially girls.

The organisation claimed that Hindutva organisations such as Bajrang Dal, Hindu Jagarana Vedike, Sriram Sene and Sri Ram Sene Hindustan were behind the communal violence in the state. They had also alleged that these organisations are known to have links to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
