Kashi Tamil Sangamam from December 17; 216 delegates from TN leave for Varanasi

Kashi Tamil Sangamam 2.0: Over 1,400 representatives comprising students, teachers, farmers, professionals, artisans, entrepreneurs and scholars to participate in the event.
NEW DELHI: The second phase of Kashi Tamil Sangamam is all set to be held from December 17 to 30 in Kashi. The first group of students named after the sacred river ‘Ganga’ left Chennai today, December 15.
Tamil Nadu governor R N Ravi on Friday flagged off a special train carrying the first contingent of 216 delegates from the state for the second edition of Kashi Tamil Sangamam.
The delegates from different walks of life, including students, teachers, farmers, professionals, artisans, entrepreneurs and scholars, travelled in three coaches of the train that left MGR Chennai Central at 10:45 am.
Over 1,400 representatives divided into seven groups comprising students (Ganga), teachers (Yamuna), professionals (Godavari), spiritual (Saraswati), farmers and artisans (Narmada), writers (Sindhu), traders and Businessmen (Kaveri), named after seven sacred rivers of India, will travel from Chennai, Coimbatore and Kanyakumari to participate in the second phase of Kashi Tamil Sangamam.
Leveraging from the learning of the first phase and considering its reputation for research, IIT Madras will be the implementing agency in Tamil Nadu and Banaras Hindu University in Uttar Pradesh.
Cultural programmes combining the cultures of Tamil Nadu and Kashi will also be conducted at the Namo Ghat in Kashi. During the event, seminars, discussions, lectures will be organised on various aspects of knowledge like literature, ancient texts, philosophy, spirituality, music, dance, drama, yoga, Ayurveda, handloom, handicrafts along with modern innovations, business exchanges, EdTech and other next-generation technologies.

The first phase of the Kashi Tamil Sangamam was organised from November 16 to December 16, 2022. Over 2,500 people from Tamil Nadu representing 12 different walks of life travelled to Kashi, Prayagraj and Ayodhya on an 8-day tour.
