Madhya Pradesh Cabinet allows new medical, 11 government colleges in state: Report

The Cabinet has also okayed the proposal of renaming the Chhindwara University to Raja Shankar Shah University.
NEW DELHI: The Madhya Pradesh Cabinet approved the making of a new medical college and 11 new government colleges in the state, in a meeting chaired by the Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on November 10, as per a report from EdExLive.
The Cabinet gave permission to the medical education department to allot 97,452 square metres of empty land near Kanavati on Mhow Nasirabad road for the formation of a medical college. This land will be under the ownership of the municipality of Neemuch Nagar, the report said.

Apart from this, the Cabinet also allowed 11 new government colleges in the state. These government colleges will be established in Udayanagar in Dewas district, Raigaon in Satna district, Ghuwara in Chhatarpur district, Pichhore in Gwalior district, Jaisinagar in Sagar district, Gormi in Bhind district, Rajoudha, Rithorakala, Dinara and Dimani in Morena district and one in Anuppur district, the report said.
Moreover, the MP Cabinet approved to start 233 academic, 228 non-academic posts. Along with that, it gave its nod to a recurring expenditure of more than Rs 24 crore per annum and non-recurring expenditure of more than Rs 5 crore to assist the set up of new Science and Commerce faculties in five already-functional government colleges as well as three new subjects at postgraduate level in one government college, the report said.
Further, the Cabinet said yes to a proposal to rename the Chhindwara University to Raja Shankar Shah University, the report said. The higher education department has been given authority to announce it in the form of a bill in the next session, the report added.

According to the report, the medical education department also got approval to upgrade the TB Hospital in Bhopal to Regional Institute for Respiratory Diseases. With the help of the Regional Institute, the currently available postgraduate programme will get 12 to 15 seats from just three seats. The establishment of a Surgery department will help increase three to four PG seats.
