Madhya Pradesh government extends summer vacation in schools in view of heat wave

While primary classes will open on July 1, classes from 6 to 12 will start functioning from June 20 to June 30 in the morning shift.
NEW DELHI: Madhya Pradesh school education department has announced to extend the summer vacation in schools in view of heatwave, education minister Inder Singh Parmar informed. While primary classes will open on July 1, classes from 6 to 12 will start from June 20.
The minister also informed that classes 6 to 12 will run in the morning shift from June 20 to June 30 and all schools will run in the regular time from July 1 in the state. Class 5 exams will be conducted as per the schedule, he said.
“Keeping in view the adverse effect on the health of the students due to the scorching heat and rise in temperature, it has been decided to extend the summer vacation. Primary schools from class 1 to 5 will open on 1 July 2023 and classes in schools from class 6 to 12 will run in the morning shift from 20 June to 30 June. Class V exams will be held as per the prescribed time table. From July 1, 2023, all schools will operate according to the regular time table,” Parmar said in a tweet.

Earlier, the schools in MP were supposed to reopen on June 20. The government had extended summer vacation in schools till June 19 due to extreme heat and rise in temperature. Initially, schools were closed till June 15. Summer vacation was declared for the students till June 15, 2023. At present, keeping in view the adverse effect on the health of the students due to extreme heat and unexpected rise in temperature, summer vacation is declared for the students till 19.06.2023 in all the educational institutions running in the state," Inder Singh Parmar had said.
