NEW DELHI: The state common entrance test cell, Maharashtra has extended the caste validity certificate submission deadline for Socially and Educationally Backward Classes (SEBC), Other Backward Classes (OBC) category candidates admitted in the academic year 2024-25. As per the official notice, candidates can now submit the caste validity certificate by April 6, 2025.

This decision came after nine candidates admitted under this provision missed the initial deadline. “Considering their academic future, the government has extended the deadline for submission by an additional three months from the date of this order, as per government order 3. Accordingly, the final deadline for submitting the caste validity certificate is April 6, 2025,” the English translation of the official notice said.

As per the official notice, the CET cell granted a six-month extension to SEBC, OBC category candidates to submit the caste validity certificate earlier. Candidates who have not yet obtained their caste validity certificate must approach the relevant caste verification office and get the certificate.

Candidates should upload their caste certificate within the extended period and also submit it to their respective institution or college. Those who have already submitted the certificate to their institution must ensure it has been uploaded online.

The CET cell further informed that this extension is applicable only to candidates from the 2024-25 academic year. “For the academic year 2025-26, candidates applying under the SEBC and OBC categories are informed that, as per government decisions mentioned in orders 1, 2, and 3, this extension was granted only for admissions in the academic year 2024-25. This facility will not be applicable for the academic year 2025-26.,” the official notice said.
