Maharashtra NEET UG Counselling 2026: 82.75% MBBS, BDS seats filled; 1,931 vacant after round 2

The State Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell has conducted the Maharashtra National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET UG) counselling 2026. A total of 9,265 students have taken admission to MBBS and BDS courses in the second round of Maharashtra NEET UG counselling 2026, according to data. Of the 11,196 seats available under the state quota in round 2, 1,931 seats remain vacant for the next round.

Overall, 82.75% of the available MBBS and BDS seats were filled in the second round of the centralised admission process for the academic year 2026-27.

Maharashtra NEET UG Counselling 2026: MBBS admissions

Of the 8,579 MBBS seats available in round 2, 7,630 seats were filled, taking the admission rate to 88.93%. A total of 949 MBBS seats remain vacant. Among government medical colleges, 4,825 of 4,980 seats were filled, leaving 155 vacant seats. These seats are spread across 42 government medical colleges.

In 23 private medical colleges, 2,625 of the 3,149 available MBBS seats were filled, while 524 seats remain vacant. Meanwhile, 180 of the 450 MBBS seats in two private universities were filled. The remaining 270 seats are vacant.

Maharashtra NEET UG Counselling 2026: BDS admissions

For BDS, 1,635 students were admitted out of 2,617 available seats in round 2. This represents an admission rate of 62.47%, with 982 seats remaining vacant.

Government medical colleges recorded 254 admissions against 317 BDS seats, leaving 63 vacant seats. In 23 private medical colleges, 1,346 of the 2,200 BDS seats were filled, while 854 seats remained vacant. In one private university, 35 of the 100 BDS seats were filled and 65 seats remained vacant.

Maharashtra NEET UG Round 3 schedule

The CET Cell has announced the round 3 Maharashtra NEET UG counselling schedule for centralised admissions to MBBS and BDS courses. Candidates will be able to register for Round 3 until September 26, 2026, by 6 pm. They must upload colour scanned copies of all required original documents on the counselling portal by 11 pm on September 26.
