UCMS has urged the MCC to announce revised MBBS session dates for 2026-27, citing delays in NEET UG counselling. The college said the schedule could disrupt foundation courses, orientation, parent-faculty interaction, teaching plans and resource allocation. It sought permission for colleges to begin foundation and Phase I teaching after counselling and admissions conclude.

UCMS flags counselling delay, seeks new MBBS academic session dates

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has opened the seat resignation facility for Round 1 candidates who opted for ‘freeze’ or ‘float’ but now wish to withdraw. Float candidates can resign from August 31 at 3:30 pm to September 2 at 1 pm, while freeze candidates can resign from August 31 at 2 pm to September 2 at 1 pm.

Under the revised schedule, NEET UG Round 2 counselling will be held from September 3 to 11 for both state counselling and All India Quota, Deemed and Central Universities. The last date for joining under both counselling streams is September 18. Earlier, Round 2 counselling was scheduled from August 24 to September 2 for AIQ and from August 31 to September 8 for the state quota.

The MBBS academic session for the 2026-27 batch, scheduled to begin on September 8, is likely to be deferred by a week following the Medical Counselling Committee’s (MCC) extension of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test UG counselling schedule. The delay has reportedly been attributed to ongoing court cases and representations from students seeking additional time to join colleges.

The West Bengal Medical Counselling Committee (WBMCC) has published the WB NEET UG 2026 counselling 2 round 1 provisional merit list at wbmcc.nic.in.

The Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Medical College Jaipur has published the Rajasthan NEET UG counselling 2026 seat allotment result, and a total of 5,666 seats have been allotted in round 1 counselling. Of these, 4,523 are MBBS seats, while 1,143 are BDS seats.

The Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS) Faridkot has published a list of 25 candidates who have been debarred from 85% of the Punjab quota seats.
