As per the MCC NEET UG counselling 2026 schedule, round 1 registration and fee payment will begin from August 5 to 12.
MCC NEET UG counselling 2026 choice filling and locking will start on August 6, and the last date is August 13. The round 1 provisional allotment result will be announced on August 17, and college reporting will begin from August 18 to 22.
MCC has introduced several changes to its online counselling system this year, including the option for students to opt for seat upgradation to skip physical reporting.
The new system will reduce unnecessary travel, paperwork and financial burden on students who had to visit their allotted colleges even when they intended to seek a better seat in the next round.
Among the key reforms in this year's NEET UG counselling 2026 is the introduction of a 'Freeze' and 'Float' option, which one can choose once the seats are allotted.
Candidates now have to decide whether to lock in their allotted seat and choose any future upgrade (Freeze). If they want to keep the seat for now but still try for a better one in the next round of counselling, they pick "Float."
New changes also include a new online resignation facility and the digitisation of document submission for Non-Resident Indian (NRI) quota admissions. NRI candidates can upload all required documents online through the MCC NEET counselling portal instead of relying on offline document submission.
According to the National Medical Commission (NMC) seat matrix, the 2026-27 academic session will offer over 1.36 lakh MBBS seats spread across 823 medical colleges nationwide. Alongside this, counselling will also take place for 27,868 BDS seats available at 319 dental colleges across the country, as per the Dental Council of India (DCI).
The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) will conduct the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET UG) 2026 counselling for admission to 15% All India Quota seats, 100% open seats at Banaras Hindu University (BHU), All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), and other medical colleges.
Moreover, to simplify the MBBS counselling registration process, the counselling committee has released a series of video tutorials in Hindi and English. The video tutorials provide step-wise guidance on MCC NEET UG counselling 2026 registration, choice filling, documents required, seat allotment, and eligibility for NRI quota.
