Most of the schools in the Delhi-NCR region, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana and other states are closed due to the extreme cold situation.

NEW DELHI: In view of the extreme cold weather, schools in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh up to Class 8 will remain closed. For Class 9 to Class 12, the school timings have been changed to 10 am to 3 pm. Due to the cold weather and ongoing cold wave, most of the schools in the northern part of India, particularly in the Delhi-NCR region, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Haryana have been closed.
ANI tweeted, " “Uttar Pradesh | In the wake of severe cold, all schools to remain shut till class 8th in Meerut while school timings for class 9th-12th will be 10am-3pm.”

The schools in Rajasthan will remain closed till January 18 due to the cold wave situation. And the private schools will function from 9 am to 3 pm between January 19 and January 22, 2023. Earlier, due to a massive temperature drop, the Jharkhand government closed the primary schools till the weather improve.
Additionally, considering the prevailing cold weather conditions, the Haryana government has also extended the winter breaks for all schools till January 21. The schools were earlier scheduled to reopen on January 16, will now open on January 23. However, the classes will continue for Class 10 and Class 12 students, who will appear in the board exams.
