Ministry of Defence approves setting up of 21 new Sainik Schools: Report
The Union Cabinet had in October last year approved a proposal of setting up 100 affiliated Sainik Schools.

NEW DELHI: The Ministry of Defence has approved setting up of 21 new Sainik Schools under the Sainik School Society in partnership with states, Non-Residential Organisations (NGOs), and private schools, according to ANI.
The new Sainik schools will be set up in the initial round of the government's initiative of setting up 100 new Sainik schools across India in partnership mode.These new schools will be distinct from existing Sainik Schools, the report said.

“The objectives behind PM Narendra Modi’s vision of setting up 100 new Sainik Schools is to provide quality education to the students in tune with National Education Policy and give them better career opportunities, including joining the Armed Forces,” the Defence Ministry was quoted as saying.
A total of 194 schools have applied to get affiliated to the Sainik School Society, the Ministry of Defence said on Friday. The Union Cabinet had in October last year approved a proposal of setting up 100 affiliated Sainik Schools.

"These affiliated schools will function as an exclusive vertical which will be distinct and different from the existing Sainik Schools of the MoD (Ministry of Defence)," an official statement said. The aim of this initiative is to provide Sainik School pattern of education to a larger cross section of aspiring students all over the country, it said.
Recently, the Ministry of Defence said that the Sainik School Society (SSS) is in the process of developing an automated system for the conduct of e-Counselling to ensure transparency in the admission process. It will also provide access for real-time monitoring of the entire process, and necessary action, as required at each stage, as per the official statement.
As many as 312 girl cadets have been admitted in class 6 in 33 existing Sainik Schools for the 2021-22 academic session, the government said in Lok Sabha on Monday. Minister of state for defence Ajay Bhatt, replying to a question, said six to 10 girl cadets have been admitted in class 6 for the first time in each of the existing Sainik Schools.
