The Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education (MPBSE) has revised the rules governing internal choice in question papers for Classes 9 to 12 from academic session 2026-27. As per the recent notification, the board has discontinued internal choice in 2-mark questions in major subjects while retaining the facility for 3-mark and 4-mark questions.

The revised rules will apply to examinations conducted during the 2026-27 academic session. The changes follow decisions taken at the board's Curriculum Committee meeting on August 20, 2025, and approved at the Executive Committee meeting on August 28, 2025.

MP Board exam 2026-27: Changes in internal choice

Under the revised pattern, for major subjects, students will no longer have the option of internal choice in 2-mark questions. These are categorised as very short-answer questions. However, internal choice will be available in 3-mark short-answer questions and 4-mark long-answer questions.

The board has also introduced changes to the internal-choice pattern for subjects under the National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF).
