The college hospital will have to raise its bed strength by at least 20% annually to reach 50 and 30 beds, respectively, within five years.

NEW DELHI: The National Commission for Homoeopathy (NCH) has allowed certain relaxations in the Minimum Essential Standards (MES) Regulations, 2024, for admission to the undergraduate Bachelor of Homoeopathic Medicine and Surgery (BHMS) course in the 2025-26 academic session. The decision was taken during the 11th special meeting of the commission.
As per the notice, colleges with an intake of 100 seats will be allowed a 10% relaxation in the required number of faculty members. Institutions with 60 seats will be permitted a 15 % relaxation in faculty strength. The total number of non-teaching staff in colleges and hospitals will also be allowed a 20% relaxation.
“10% relaxation for 100 seats and 15% relaxation for 60 seats UG course college in the required total strength of faculty members as per Minimum Essential Standards (MES) Regulations 2024,” the official notice said.
Hospitals attached to the colleges will be required to increase their bed strength each year to meet the target within five years. Institutions with 100 seats will have to increase their beds from 25 to 50. Similarly, 60-seat colleges will need to increase from 20 to 30 beds. The required increase each year is set at 20%.

There will also be a 10% relaxation in the requirement for laboratory and departmental equipment and instruments. “However, there shall be no relaxation in the Emergency Equipment's at SI. No. 12 (Appendix 15) and Skill Laboratory at SI. No. 15 of the Paragraph A-General of the Second Schedule of the MES Regulations,” the official notice said.
Institutions with 60 UG seats will be allowed to apply for an increase to 100 seats, regardless of the year they were established. Notice further informed that during inspection, colleges will be given an opportunity to explain their compliance in case of any deficiencies before a final decision is taken.
