Try NowNEW DELHI; June 30: Delhi High Court, on June 28, 2019, Friday has issued the notice to National Testing Agency (NTA) and Medical Council of India (MCI), in regards to the petition filed to quash the result of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), which was announced on June 5, 2019.
Delhi HC session led by single judge bench of Justice Jyoti Singh, passed the order for a petition filed by the petitioner, Jaskirat Kaur, who appeared for the most sought-after medical entrance examination conducted on May 5, 2019. The hearing for the matter will continue on July 5.
Argument of petition
The petitioner wrote the pen and paper based exam and obtained 334 marks (out of 720) with 82.56 percentile. Belonging to the OBC category, Jaskirat secured 90,787 category rank. However, as per the press release published by NTA on June 5, mentions that the total number of candidates under OBC category, securing the minimum cutoff of 40th percentile is 63,789. Therefore, the petitioner advocate that her category rank of 90,787 is not possible by any stretch of imagination.
The petitioner further claimed that after confirming her results with the help of answer key, she established that she is obtaining more than 400, which contradicts the announced 334 marks in the scorecard.
The petitioner counsel advocate Naginder Beniwal mentioned that, since the counselling was about to begin and the future of petitioner totally depends on her scores, Jaskirat also send a representation on the matter to the MCI on June 14, 2019 requesting clarification and rectification of results. However, the authorities overlooked the discrepancy.
As per the daily news, Mr. Beniwal in his argument also stated that the professional entrance examination alike NEET is a gateway to the career in MBBS/BDS/AYUSH/BVSc & AH, which has been contravened with the declaration of results. With this, the petitioner also request for the declaration of correct and revised result.
The court earlier had ordered of quashing the result of NEET UG based on the petition against NTA mentioning that the authority had not identified and marked the correct answer in the solution key released on June 29.
