NEW DELHI: In a relief for the NEET aspirants, the medical entrance exam - National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) will be conducted twice a year. As per the New Indian Express report, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) has given a nod to hold the medical entrance test two times in a year. However, the schedule for admission to MBBS, BDS, AYUSH and other medical courses is yet to be announced.

An unnamed official said to the New Indian Express that there are a large number of students who are not ready to appear for the national medical and dental entrance exam in online mode. Therefore, there is unanimity on conducting the NEET exam twice a year for the 2021-22 session.
NEET 2021 twice a year will help students to be ranked on the basis of best of two scores if they appear for both sessions. It is the same format as followed by JEE Main last year. An anonymous NTA official said to the New Indian Express that the idea of conducting NEET two times a year will reduce the stress and help medicos to score better.
Earlier, the education and health ministries hold a meeting with the officials of National Testing Agency (NTA) - the conducting authority - to discuss whether NEET 2021 may be conducted twice a year in online mode. While, the education minister, Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ in a live interaction said the ministry of education is considering to conduct NEET 2021 more than once in a year.
As per the press release by the ministry of education on January 19, 2021, NEET syllabus 2021 remains the same like last year. However, the internal choice to answer the questions will be provided to the medical aspirants.
The application form of NEET 2021 is expected to be released anytime soon on the official website. Only the eligible candidates can fill the NEET application form to appear for the entrance exam. NEET 2021 exam will be held for admission to 91,367 MBBS, 26,949 BDS, 52,720 AYUSH and 525 BVSc seats across India.
