NEW DELHI: The National Testing Agency (NTA) declared the city and center-wise results for the National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) 2024 yesterday, July 20, in accordance with the Supreme Court's directions in the ongoing NEET case. As per the data from Ministry of Education (MoE), a total of 23.33 lakh candidates appeared for NEET 2024, with 2,321 achieving 700 marks or higher.

As per MoE, these NEET 2024 high scorers were distributed across 1,404 examination centers both within the country and internationally. These NEET 2024 centers were located in 276 cities and 25 states, UTs. On July 22, the Supreme Court will resume hearing arguments on several petitions requesting the cancellation, re-exam, and a court-supervised investigation into alleged irregularities in the NEET-UG 2024 exam, conducted on May 5.
As per NEET 2024 centre-wise result statistics, in Rajasthan's Sikar, over 75 candidates from each center achieved scores above 600, with some centers reporting up to 150 high scorers. An analysis of the NEET 2024 center-wise results reveals that the average number of candidates scoring above 600 in Sikar exceeds the national average. Highlighting about the number of high scorers in NEET 2024 from traditional hubs, the MoE report stated, "It is true that many students appearing from traditional tuition hubs like Sikar, Kota and Kottayam were able to score 700 or more marks. However, the silver lining is that many students appearing from other cities were also able to come within this bracket."
Highlighting about the distribution of top scorers, the MoE press release states, “For example, 35 students appearing from Lucknow, 27 students appearing from Kolkata, 25 students appearing from Latur, 20 students appearing from Nagpur, 19 from Faridabad, 18 from Nanded, 17 from Indore, 16 each from Cuttack and Kanpur, 14 each from Kolhapur, Noida, Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, 13 each from Agra and Aligarh, 10 each from Akola and Patiala, 8 from Davangere, 7 from Banaskantha, etc. were able to score 700 or more marks. It appears that aligning the syllabus of NEET with that of higher secondary has started to bear fruits.”

According to the MoE, the distribution of NEET 2023 top scorers across cities and centres was somewhat less compared to NEET 2024. The NEET 2023 result statistics are mentioned below.
700 to 720 Marks (NEET 2023): Spread across 116 cities and 310 centers.
650 to 699 Marks (NEET 2023): Spread across 381 cities and 2,431 centers.
600 to 649 Marks (NEET 2023): Present in 464 cities and 3,434 centers.
