NTA has revised NEET UG tie-breaking rule. In case two or more candidates obtain equal marks or NEET percentile scores in the exam, the tie will be resolved using the following method.

• Candidate obtaining higher marks, percentile score in biology - botany and zoology, followed by,
• Candidate obtaining higher marks, percentile score in chemistry, followed by,
• Candidate obtaining higher marks/percentile score in physics, followed by,
• Candidate with less proportion of the number of incorrect answers and correct answers in all the subjects,
• Candidate with less proportion of number of incorrect answers and correct answers in biology, followed by
• Candidate with less proportion of number of incorrect answers and correct answers in chemistry, followed by
• Candidate with less proportion of number of incorrect answers and correct answers in physics, followed by
• In case, these criteria are exhausted and tie still persists, it will be resolved through a random process with the guidance of an independent expert committee.

NTA has introduced several changes to the NEET UG 2025 application process and exam pattern. Here are the key updates:

• No Optional Questions: The NEET UG 2025 question paper will have three sections—physics, chemistry, and biology—with 180 compulsory questions to be attempted in three hours. The total marks for the exam remain 720.

NIOS students are eligible to apply for NEET UG 2025, as confirmed by the National Medical Commission (NMC). “It has come to the notice that a confusion has been created stating that National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued NEET-UG Bulletin 2025, which is not as per NMC Regulations. In this regard, it is to clarify that the reply has been furnished to the applicant who seeks reply in regard to studying through National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS)/ State Open Schools or Private candidate,” NMC said earlier in a statement.
