NEET for GNM, BSc nursing, AYUSH colleges to be affiliated: UP CM Yogi Adityanath

Yogi Adityanath made announcements such as admissions to GNM, BSc nursing through NEET, establishment of nursing, paramedical schools, affiliation of AYUSH colleges.

NEW DELHI: Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath has made major announcements on education such as taking admissions to General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) and BSc nursing courses through the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, the establishment of nursing and paramedical schools, the affiliation of AYUSH colleges among others.

According to Adityanath, admissions to GNM and BSC nursing will be done through NEET exam. In a tweet from the official Twitter account of the chief minister's office, he announced that skill labs should be set up in every state medical college for the improvement of qualification and skill development. "Action plan should be made to add 5 new courses OT Technician, Radiotherapy Technician, Anesthesia Technician, Dialysis Technician and MRI Technician for skill development of Paramedical," he said.

Adityanath also stressed the improvement in the number and quality of nursing and paramedical education in Uttar Pradesh. In this direction, he announced the establishment of five new nursing schools, three new paramedical schools and 24 skill labs within the next six months. He also said that about 10,000 paramedical staff should be recruited in UP by the health department in the next six months. The Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Board (UPSSSC) is vested with the responsibility to carry out the appointment process.

Regarding AYUSH colleges, Adityanath said that both government and private AYUSH colleges should be affiliated with Mahayogi Guru Gorakhnath Ayush University. He also said that the syllabus of Yoga and Naturopathy in these colleges should be prepared by the university.

Uttar Pradesh government will also take the initiative to develop one building for each Anganwadi and to develop them efficiently by improving the infrastructure, installing audio-visual aids and setting up clean energy mechanisms.
