NEET UG cut-off 2025 for OBC category: Participation of students belonging to the Other Backward Classes has consistently remained highest over the years, making up almost 50% of total registration when a record 24 lakh students applied for NEET UG the previous year. An OBC candidate with NEET UG rank below 14000 has a higher chance to get MBBS admission in the top 20 medical colleges in India, as per previous years' cut-off trends.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducted the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test - undergraduate (NEET UG 2025) on May 4 for around 23 lakh students. However, the admission to MBBS, BDS and allied courses is done by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) through NEET UG counselling 2025 for All India Quota (AIQ) seats and state counselling committees conduct state-level selection processes.

As per the reservation criteria, 27% of seats in every course is reserved for OBC candidates belonging to the Non-Creamy Layer (OBC- NCL). “Candidates belonging to the creamy layer of OBC are NOT entitled to reservation. Such candidates are treated as belonging to the general (GEN), i.e. unreserved category, and they will be eligible only for the GEN seats – the seats for which all candidates are eligible,” as per the guidelines.

In 2023, a total of 8,73,173 candidates from OBC category registered for the NEET UG exam. In 2024, the NTA recorded the highest of 24 lakh registrations, of which 10,54,277 belonged to the OBC category.
