NEET PG 2020 cutoff lowered by 20 percentile to fill vacant seats

NEW DELHI: The National Board of Examination (NBE), on July 14, 2020, has released the revised cut off for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET PG) admission to Doctor of Medicine (MD), Master of Surgery (MS) and PG Diploma courses for the current academic session. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) in consultation with the Medical Council of India (MCI) has lowered the required cut off percentile in order to fill the vacant seats. According to the official notice, the revised PG cutoff has been reduced to 20 percentile for each category.

For the current academic year, the cutoff for MD/MS/PG Diploma courses has been decreased by 20 percentile. While for last year, the cutoff for general category candidates was 44 percentile, while for SC/ST/OBC, it was 34 percentile. There was a deduction of six percentile in the previous year’s cut off, while as many as 27 marks were reduced.

It is mandatory for aspirants to secure the revised minimum qualifying percentile of NEET PG 2020 are eligible to appear for counselling process. The counselling for 50% All India Quota (AIQ), Deemed/Central Universities, ESIC and AFMS institutes is done by Medical Counselling Committee (MCC). While the admission to remaining 50% state quota seats along with private colleges is done by respective state counselling authorities.
