NEET PG 2022: Aspirants to hold 'peaceful' protest today seeking postponement of exam

NEW DELHI: As the National Eligibility Entrance Test for Postgraduate (NEET PG) 2022 postponement has become a national issue, aspirants will be holding a protest today at Jantar Mantar in Delhi seeking deferment of the exam scheduled on May 21, Rakesh Bagdi, ex-president of the Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA) informed via social media.

“We would be joining protest tomorrow at Jantar Mantar along with FAIMA INDIA members called by NEETPG aspirants. Requesting all MEDICOS and media personnel to join. Rest Aspirants Study hard,” Bagdi tweeted on May 7.

NEET PG aspirants have been demanding postponement of exam citing reasons of less gap between 2021 counselling and exam, ineligibility of 5,000 medical interns to sit in exam, and delay in counselling.

The Press Information Bureau (PIB) said on Saturday that this year's NEET PG exam has not been postponed and will happen on the scheduled date, and warned candidates against a fake notice issued in the name of the National Board of Examinations (NBE) saying that the paper has been rescheduled to July 9.

The All India Medical Students Association (AIMSA) has filed a plea in the Supreme Court seeking postponement of the NEET PG 2022.

NEET PG 2022 aspirants also requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to defer the exam. Several doctors posted on the micro blogging site using the hashtag #PostponeNEETPG_ModiJi”. Aspirants also submitted a memorandum to PM Modi represented through groups like FAIMA, United Doctors Front Association, AIMSA, and NCR Parents' Association, among others. Separately, NCR Parents' Association president Sukhpal Singh Toor said around 70 people have taken Delhi Police's permission for a "peaceful protest" at the Jantar Mantar in the national capital today over the issue.
