NEW DELHI: The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has postponed the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test-Postgraduate (NEET PG) 2024. The decision to postpone the exam comes amid allegations of irregularities in certain competitive examinations.

The Ministry of Health says that this decision has been taken in the best interests of the students and to maintain the sanctity of the examination process. “NEET-PG Entrance Examination, conducted by National Board of Examination postponed. New date will be notified at the earliest,” the ministry of health posted on the official X account.

The NEET PG 2024 exam was scheduled to be held on June 23. The new date for the NEET-PG entrance examination 2024, will be announced soon on the official website, natboard.edu.in.

“Ministry of Health sincerely regrets the inconvenience caused to the students. This decision has been taken in the best interests of the students and to maintain the sanctity of examination process,” the official notice read.

Earlier, a notice was issued by the NBEMS, warning aspirants against falling prey to fraudsters claiming to sell NEET-PG 2024 questions for a considerable sum of money. Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has also urged the Centre to postpone the NEET PG exam, citing the recent NEET UG paper leak. “Given the allegations surrounding the conduct of NEET-UG exams, I urge the Government to postpone NEET-PG scheduled on June 23rd,” Tharoor tweeted.

Meanwhile, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has appointed Pradeep Singh Kharola as the director general of the National Testing Agency (NTA) on an additional charge basis. Subodh Kumar Singh, IAS, the former Director General of NTA, has been placed on 'compulsory wait' in the Department of Personnel and Training.
