Use NowNEW DELHI: The National Medical Commission (NMC) today said that the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test-Postgraduate (NEET PG 2023) counselling will begin ‘soon’ while announcing the availability of recognised PG Board Speciality seats this year for seat matrix preparation.
In the latest announcement, the NMC said that the Postgraduate Medical Education Board (PGMEB) received a total of 2,828 applications from medical colleges for recognition and renewal of recognition of PG medical qualification last year.
The PG medical board has so far taken a decision on 1,870 applications and the rest of the requests are under process, the commission said.

It further said that the NEET PG counselling 2023 will ‘soon’ begin based on the NEET 2023 exam held for postgraduate medical admission. Therefore, the existing recognised and permitted broad specialty seats available with the medical colleges will be considered for admission in the academic year 2023-24.
Saying that the seat matrix will be prepared accordingly, it also said that “the medical colleges may reduce the number of seats in special circumstances”.
The commission had asked the medical colleges to submit details of candidates who took admission in NEET super specialty and broad specialty courses by March 21. The portal was reopened after the deadline for those colleges that missed the last date.
