The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has published the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Postgraduate (NEET PG 2026) information bulletin. As per the bulletin, NBE has revised the number of questions asked in the NEET PG exam from 200 to 180.

Earlier, the NEET PG exam paper comprised 200 MCQs.

NBEMS will conduct the NEET PG 2026 medical entrance exam on August 30 from 9 am to 12:30 pm, in a single shift, across the country.

Candidates will be given four marks for each correct answer, and one mark will be deducted for very correct answer in the NEET PG 2026 exam.

"The examination shall comprise 180 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), with each question having 4 response options/distractors in the English language only. Candidates are required to select the correct/best /most appropriate response/answer out of the 4 response options provided in each question," the NEET PG 2026 information bulletin reads.

NEET PG 2026 Registration Dates

NEET PG application forms 2026 can be submitted online on the official websites, nbe.edu.in and natboard.edu.in, and the last date for form filling is July 21.

The application fee for the NEET PG 2026 is Rs 3,500 for candidates belonging to the General, OBC, and EWS categories, while candidates from all other categories are required to pay Rs 2,500.

NEET PG 2026: Advisory to select states instead of cities

NBEMS has also issued an advisory to select NEET PG 2026 exam centres. As per the revised changes, applicants will have to select three preferred test states instead of test cities.

  • Candidates are required to select three preferred test states while filling out the NEET PG 2026 application form.
  • The first preference must be the state corresponding to the correspondence address provided in the application form. The second and third preferences should be neighbouring states.
  • After the NEET PG 2026 application form is submitted, neither the correspondence address nor the selected test state preferences can be modified, including during the application correction window.

Notably, NBEMS has also clarified that test city allocation for NEET PG 2026 will not be done on a first-come, first-served basis.
