EdTech Virohan partners with UPES and two others to expand healthcare education

Virohan, a healthcare-focused higher education industry partner, has announced collaborations with three universities – University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES) Dehradun, Rungta International Skills University (RISU) Bhilai, and Vivekananda Global University (VGU) Jaipur. This joint initiative has been undertaken to expand industry-aligned healthcare education programmes in India.

With the latest partnerships, Virohan’s network has grown to more than 20 university and institutional collaborations across the country, including several NAAC-accredited institutions.

The collaborations will introduce undergraduate degree programmes in allied healthcare disciplines such as physiotherapy, optometry, medical laboratory science, medical radiology and imaging technology, and anaesthesia and operation theatre technology for the 2026-27 academic year.

New healthcare courses

The institutions will also offer programmes in cosmetic science, healthcare management and artificial intelligence, along with an MBA in healthcare management and short-term certificate courses in geriatric care, phlebotomy, dispensing optics, and patient relations.

Providing feedback on the expansion, Kunaal Dudeja, co-founder and chief executive officer (CEO) of Virohan, said: “The global healthcare system is expanding rapidly, but the growth in skilled manpower has not kept pace with industry demand. Allied healthcare professionals today form nearly 60% of the healthcare workforce, yet India continues to face a significant shortage across diagnostics, imaging, physiotherapy, OT technology, patient care, and hospital operations.”

“At the same time, healthcare education continues to face a major employability gap, where many graduates are not adequately prepared for real-world industry requirements. Through these university collaborations, we are working to bridge this gap by enabling institutions to deliver industry-aligned, skill-focused healthcare education that combine theoretical knowledge, practice and industry exposure through internships," he added.

Further, he highlighted, “Our focus is to build a stronger job-ready healthcare talent that can support long-term healthcare workforce needs of the country and the world.”

Virohan healthcare programmes with industry training

According to the official Virohan press release, the programmes will combine classroom learning with industry-aligned skill training, virtual reality-based practical sessions, and internship opportunities through Virohan’s healthcare network. The internship and training network includes organisations such as Apollo Hospitals, Medanta, Dr Lal PathLabs, Lenskart, Eye-Q Hospitals, and Orange Health Labs.

Focus on healthcare workforce demand

The expansion comes amid increasing demand for trained allied healthcare professionals in India. According to Virohan, the country currently requires more than 64 lakh allied and healthcare professionals. The company also pointed to the Union Budget 2026 announcement allocating Rs 1,000 crore for education and training in the allied healthcare sector.

Women in healthcare initiative

As part of its expansion efforts, Virohan has also launched the “Women in Healthcare Initiative” with a Rs 2 crore scholarship pool aimed at increasing women’s participation in healthcare education.

Under the initiative, eligible female students can receive scholarships ranging from Rs 50,000 to Rs 2 lakh based on Class 12 marks. The scholarship programme does not require NEET scores for admission, according to the press release.

The newly added partner universities join Virohan’s existing network, which includes Babu Banarasi Das University, MIT University Shillong, Silver Oak University Ahmedabad, GH Raisoni University, CMR University Bengaluru, Assam Don Bosco University, KIET Ghaziabad, and several other institutions across India.
