“Please Note: The revised results for NEET UG (2024) have not been declared yet. Kindly wait for the official information,” the Ministry of Education told Careers360.
The NEET 2024 revised score card link on the website is old, for the retest held on June 23 for 1,563 candidates who were awarded grace marks. NTA will display the NEET result link 2024 on the websites – nta.ac.in, exams.nta.ac.in/NEET – when the revised results are actually declared.
The NEET results 2024 are being revised for the second time since the Supreme Court directed NTA to publish fresh results by treating option four as the correct answer to the controversial physics question submitted by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi expert committee. With this, the number of toppers in NEET UG 2024 are going to be reduced further. The NEET re-exam result already rendered only 61 candidates as toppers.
The court’s order came after the bench led by the Chief Justice of India (CJI) Chandrachud refused to cancel the NEET 2024 held on May 5 on account of paper leak as it found a lack of evidence to prove the sanctity of the exam was affected.
SC approved the submission of the IIT Delhi physics department expert panel, which suggested NTA’s answer as correct, and stated that there cannot be two correct answers to a question. The highest decision-making body had previously asked the institute’s director to constitute a committee and recommend its answer, during the NEET hearing.
Recently, NTA published city and centre-wise NEET results 2024 keeping candidates’ identities masked upon orders from the apex court.
NEET UG Toppers 2024: The physics question
Of 23.33 lakh candidates who appeared for the exam this year, 67 grabbed the All India Rank (AIR) 1 to become NEET UG toppers 2024. Of these, 44 benefited from question number 17 in the physics section. Upon examining the challenges raised by the aspirants against the answer key provided by the NTA, the subject experts found and recommended two correct answers for the question due to differences in the new and old editions of the NCERT books.
All those candidates who chose any of the two answers were given full marks for the question, as a result.
NEET UG is conducted every year for admission to MBBS, BDS, AYUSH programmes offered by medical institutions across the country. This year’s exam was marred by controversy over alleged paper leak, irregularities, huge number of top rankers, grace marks, and early result declaration.
