NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court today issued a notice in a writ petition filed by 41 PG qualified doctors challenging abrupt ‘last-minute changes’ in the exam pattern of NEET SS 2021. The apex court said it will hear next Monday as additional documents are to be filed and served to respondents. NEET SS 2021 is scheduled to be held on November 13 and 14.
The National Board of Examinations (NBE) recently revised the NEET SS 2021 registration date to September 22.
As per the prevailing NEET SS 2021 exam pattern, 60% of marks are from the speciality and 40% from generic feeder courses.
Speaking about the changes in the NEET SS 2021 changes in exam patter, Advocate Shyam Divan said, “100% questions are from general medicines” Live Law reported.
“There were questions that were based on the practice that we did in critical Care. Now they've completely transformed the same,” he said.

Sr Counsel submits that notiifcation was issued on July 23 & thereafter a new notification was issued in Aug in which the entire pattern has been altered.
Under the prevailing pattern 60% marks were from the speciality & 40% from generic feeder courses.
In April 2018, the ministry of health had sent a letter wherein it had said that 40% of the questions that were to be asked from primary feeder broad speciality should be asked from all speciality and had also requested to be notified well in advance, the report said.

He also pointed out that earlier 60% of questions used to be from the specific speciality and now “there would be 100% questions from general medicine & this would be advantageous for those who are in general medicine”.
NEET SS 2021 will be conducted for admission to various DM/MCh (Doctorate of Medicine/Magister Chirurgiae) courses. Candidates are advised to read further to know how to register for NEET SS 2021.
