‘Reduce Uncertainty’: FAIMA calls for uninterrupted NEET SS counselling; seeks clear timelines from MCC

NEET SS Court Case : The Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA), a doctor’s association, has urged the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) to proceed with NEET SS counselling in parallel with the ongoing legal proceedings. FAIMA has highlighted concerns of senior doctors who are currently working under “excessive workload and mental stress” due to the delay in NEET SS round 2 counselling.

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Super Speciality (NEET SS 2025) counselling to round 1 has been completed, but the round 2 admissions are “facing repeated postponements” due to the legal processing ongoing in the Supreme Court.

According to the official FAIMA statement, the association understands the importance of adhering to judicial processes; however, the uncertainty in the admission process is causing “significant distress” among students, and it is adversely impacting the healthcare system.

“The choice filling for round 2 of NEET SS counselling has been extended until further orders. The Candidates can now exercise choice filling and are advised to stay in touch with MCC website for further updates,” the official MCC website reads.

NEET SS: Delay affecting studies, cites FAIMA

FAIMA adds that several senior doctors awaiting seat allotment results for round 2 counselling are currently “under excessive workload and mental stress” and facing “financial hardships”.

It further cites that the delay in admissions is not only affecting “academic progression” but also contributing to “workforce shortages” in SS departments across the country.

FAIMA has urged the conduct of subsequent rounds of counselling parallel with ongoing legal proceedings, if permissible. It has also demanded clarification from the appropriate authorities to avoid further delays and reduce uncertainty among aspirants.

“Additionally, these postponements are impacting public health by leading to a shortage of qualified specialists. We request MCC to take swift action to resolve these delays, ensuring timely placement of aspirants and safeguarding the quality of healthcare services for the public,” FAIMA said in a letter to MCC.

The counselling result announcement for the NEET SS round 2 has been deferred from April 7 to July 28 due to legal proceedings.
