NEET UG 2020: Kashmiri candidates can apply offline till January 1

New Delhi: Amid the ongoing internet lockdown in Kashmir, the National Testing Agency (NTA), has facilitated offline application process for NEET aspirants from Kashmir. The step was taken after several requests made by the candidates from the valley. A separate application form has been released which is available at the official website ntaneet.nic.in to download. It has to be submitted in hard copy at the nodal centre before the last date. The official notice by NTA specifies that other such centres will be opened shortly. Candidates are required to pay their fees in the form of a Demand Draft (DD). In other states of the country, the application form will be accepted in online mode only.

NEET UG 2020 Offline Application Form

The application form also mentions a checklist of documents which have to be attached along with the filled application form. Which includes the following documents.

• Self-Declaration proforma for candidates belonging to UT of Jammu & Kashmir/ UT of Ladakh

• Postcard size Photograph pasted on the proforma

• Photo Copy of Class X passed certificate

• Bank Draft of requisite fee

Kashmiri aspirants can submit the application form till January 1, 2019. Candidates are required to pay their fees in the form of a Demand Draft (DD) drawn in favour of Director General, National Testing Agency, payable at NOIDA (UP). The candidates from other states will have to submit the application form till December 31 and pay the prescribed fee till January 1.

Current Situation in Kashmir
The step to facilitate submission of application form in offline mode was taken keeping in mind the requests made by Kashmiri’s NEET aspirants . Last year, 24000 candidates registered to appear for NEET. The number of registration is likely to go high this year. Around 150 computers are available at National Informatics Centres in the offices of Deputy Commissioners in districts, around 15 in each of the 10 districts. Tourist Reception Centre (TRC) at Srinagar have the facility of 30 computers which are insufficient considering the number of candidates applying.

About NEET 2020
NEET is a single largest undergraduate medical entrance test for candidates seeking admission to MBBS, BDS and AYUSH courses- BHMS, BAMS, B.V.Sc & AH. According to NEET 2020 prospectus, AIIMS and JIPMER have now merged into NEET and they will not conduct any separate exams for admission. It wil be conducted on May 3 in pen and paper based mode.
