NEW DELHI: The National Testing Agency (NTA) is expected to issue the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET UG) information bulletin 2025 soon. The NEET UG 2025 syllabus includes physics, chemistry, and biology subjects. Additionally, in order to align with the pre-Covid-19 format, the NTA has removed optional questions, which means that candidates will have to attempt all 180 questions on paper. Last year, the NTA started the NEET UG registration from February 9. As per past trends, the NEET UG 2025 registrations are expected to begin in the first week of February.

The NEET UG exam 2025 will be held in a single shift in OMR pen-paper mode and will be carried out in 13 languages including English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu.

NTA NEET UG 2025 exam pattern

As per the revised NEET UG exam pattern 2025, the question paper will consist of 180 compulsory questions.

NEET UG 2025, to be conducted for 3 hours, will have 45 questions in physics and chemistry sections 90 in that of biology. Previously, each subject had 35 compulsory questions in Section A and 15 optional ones in section B.

As per the NEET UG 2025 marking scheme, candidates will be awarded four marks for each correct answer and one mark will be deducted for every wrong answer. There will be no deduction for questions unanswered.

NEET UG 2025 Registration: APAAR ID not mandatory

NTA has removed the mandate of candidates having an APAAR ID for NEET UG 2025 registration.

"Please refer to the Public Notice dated 14 January 2025, wherein candidates were encouraged to update their Aadhar credentials and integrate their APAAR ID. Aspirants can continue to register for the exam using other available means, details of which shall be available in the information bulletin soon," NTA said.

A total of 1,08,940 MBBS seats will be filled through the NEET UG 2025 exam. Recently, union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman, while presenting the Union Budget 2025, had announced a plan to add 10,000 MBBS seats in medical colleges with an aim to create more than 75,000 seats over the next five years.
