As per the revised NEET UG exam pattern 2025, the question paper will consist of 180 compulsory questions. The NTA had introduced the optional question in section B during COVID-19 pandemic as a one-time measure. However, it will not be available anymore. Which means, candidates will have to attempt all the questions given in the question paper.
NEET UG physics and chemistry sections will have 45 questions and biology section will have 90 questions. Students will be given 180 minutes, a total of 3 hours duration, to attempt all questions. Earlier, each subject had 35 compulsory questions in Section A and 15 optional questions in section B.
The NTA had earlier scrapped the optional question from JEE Main 2025 as well. The NTA has already also issued a series of clarifications regarding the mode of the exam and registration process. The NEET UG exam will be held in OMR-based pen and paper mode, in a single day and single shift.
It has earlier instructed candidates to mandatorily register APAAR ID portal in an effort to ensure transparency and to prevent impersonation in NEET UG exam 2025. However, on Friday, the NTA clarified that the NEET APAAR ID is not mandatory to apply for the medical entrance exam.
