The counselling committee conducted 3 rounds of special stray vacancy counselling to fill MBBS seats in India. The counselling process began in August and concluded on December 30. The delay was caused by multiple court cases questioning the transparency and fairness of the exam . Notably, a record 24 lakh students appeared for the NEET exam.
Tamil Nadu has the highest number of 38 government medical colleges, followed by Uttar Pradesh with 35, and Maharashtra with 32 institutes. Karnataka is home to 46 private medical colleges, highest in India.
