NEW DELHI: Education minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ on Thursday responded to the queries on the National Education Policy (NEP) posed by students over the past month through social media.
Pokhriyal responded to questions relating to school education, physical education, teacher eligibility and similar queries.
Pokhriyal said that the centre is “in consultation with various stakeholders” with regard to the implementation of NEP.
Pokhriyal, through his official social media account, said: “Implementation plan of NEP2020 is under preparation with due consultation with various stakeholders. The actual implementation will be carried out as per the timelines envisaged in NEP.
Pokhriyal also reiterated that the Centre is looking to make an integrated four year B.Ed as the preferred degree for teachers by 2030.
#NEP proposes a four-year B.Ed integrated course as a preferred degree for becoming #teachers by 2030. At present, D.El.Ed. with TET or B.Ed with six months bridge course within two years of appointment and TET are eligible for becoming a primary teacher. #NEPTransformingIndia https://t.co/ZatwubiP5h

On being asked about the high fees charged by coaching centres to help students prepare for reputed central institutions, Pokhriyal said that the focus of NEP will be to reduce the “coaching culture” by focusing more on core concepts.
However, many of the answers seemed pre-drafted responses that often didn't have anything to do with the questions asked.
#NationalEducationPolicy document is in the public domain. Anyone can access it. Extensive outreach activities are being carried out by @EduMinOfIndia to create awareness about the contents of #NEP2020. Some of these answers were even duplicated for different questions.
