Jaipur: NIMS University student dies by suicide; second such case this week

JAIPUR: A student at the NIMS University in Jaipur allegedly died by suicide by hanging himself in his room at a private hostel, police said on Thursday. The deceased was identified as Mohit Saini, a native of Uttar Pradesh's Mathura district, they said. Saini was a second-year Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) course student at the university and was staying at Sunrise Hostel located opposite the university, police said.

Chandwaji SHO Rajveer Singh said other hostel students alerted police around 11 pm on Wednesday after noticing a foul smell coming from the room. Police had the door opened and found Saini's body hanging inside the room, the SHO said. The student is suspected to have died by suicide one or two days before the body was discovered, police said.

The body has been sent to NIMS Hospital for post-mortem examination. A day earlier, on Tuesday, a BTech student of NIMS University had also allegedly died by suicide after jumping from the 15th floor of the hostel, police said.
