NIRF 2024 registration ends today at nirfindia.org; eligibility criteria for HEIs

Higher education institutions that participated in the NIRF 2023 exercise have been pre-registered.
NEW DELHI: The ministry of education will close the registration window for institutes applying for National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF 2024). Eligible institutes can apply for the NIRF 2024 on the official website, nirfindia.org.
The ministry said only those institutes will be considered for the ranking that have graduated at least three batches of students in full time programmes, where the duration is not less than three years for the UG programmes and two years for the PG programmes.
All the institutions that had participated in the NIRF 2023 exercise have been pre-registered, the ministry said. “A mail in this regard has already been sent to the Heads of the respective institutions to confirm institution details for India Rankings 2023,” it added.
The ranking will be be based the following five criteria:
Teaching, learning and resources (TLR)
- Student strength including doctoral students (SS)
- Faculty-student ratio with emphasis on permanent faculty (FSR)
- Combined metric for Faculty with PhD (or equivalent) and experience (FQE)
- Financial resources and their utilisation (FRU)
Research and professional practice (RP)
- Combined metric for publications (PU)
- Combined metric for quality of publications (QP)
- IPR and patents: published and granted (IPR)
- Footprint of projects and professional practice (FPPP)
Graduation outcomes (GO)
- Metric for university examinations (GUE)
- Metric for number of PhD students graduated (GPHD)
Outreach and inclusivity (OI)
- Percentage of students from other states and countries (region diversity RD)
- Percentage of women (women diversity WD)
- Economically and socially challenged students (ESCS)
- Facilities for physically challenged students (PCS)
- Perception (PR) ranking
Peer perception
- Academic peers and employers (PR)
